plot
After interviewing Roger I created a plot line, of what I want him to say and what meaning I want it to portray.1.Starts of with him discussing the size of the canal, this sets the scene of where his story takes place
2. He then states when he was there and where. Giving the audience background information into his time at the Sewers Canal.
3. After this he talks about his stories in the sewers canal, going to see the pyramids, in the desert and seeing vultures and his trip In the Irish Sea.
4. then he states a story when he was there, how a man was suppose to leave but he was made to do another 6 months, this was upsetting to him as he wanted to go home. this is where the short film takes an emotional turn
5. he then states things such as "father told me no you soldier on" this statements create an emotional sympathetic response
6. the short film ends with him looking into the distance stating "yep wars a horrible thing" this rounds up his whole thoughts about war. making us feel sympathy towards him.
I feel by structuring the short film in this way it slowly reveals his true emotions therefor taking the audience on a cathartic joinery through different emotions.
Cast
after choosing that I want to create a documentary short film, I knew the main criteria I wanted was someone who was good at story telling. who can captivate the audience through stories and his experiences. Roger was the first person I chose to pick due to his long history, he is 90 years old, as well as this he is so prevalent in our community and knows everything you need to know. when talking to him I discovered that he was garrisoned in the Sewers Canal, after researching this I knew it was an interesting topic to cover as not many people knew about the Sewers Canal Crisis which caused thousands of soldiers to be sent over to Egypt.
